Just be comfortable.
Wear the proper shoes to protect your ankles from any twisting. You don't need boots, just something comfortable. Bring a backpack, camera, binocular and a good outlook on life. More advice can be given if you need any that is and we don't rush anyone.
For early spring or fall, TrekGuyd recommends a light rain jacket.
What to bring on your hike..
water, fruit and a small bite to snack on while you rest from time to time.
